SWCRICKET: CORNWALL PUT VISITORS TO BEDS

Cornwall Cricket badge Cornwall boosted their Minor Counties Knock Out Cup quarter final hopes with a six-wicket win over Bedfordshire at Truro yesterday.

Beds were bowled out for 114 with Cornwall and Truro skipper Tom Sharp taking four for 9. Dan Davis and Andrew Libby took two wickets.

cornwall cricket creastCornwall's Tom Rowe scored his maiden century as Cornwall made 223 all out before lunch in the second day of their Minor Counties Championship Western Division match at home to Herefordshire at Truro Cricket Club.

 

Herefordshire opener Dave Exall (111) and Chris Boroughs (113) both hit afternoon session centuries as the visitors looked set for a big lead at tea.

LYLE HITS CUP WINNING SIX OFF FINAL BALL

cornwall cricket crestTom Lyle smashed a sensational six off the final ball as Werrington beat Callington by three wickets to win the 2011 Clive Rosevear Hawkey Cup final at St Austell CC last night.

 

Werrington required eight to win off the last two balls and Lyle obliged with a four and then a cup-clinching six.

DEVON BEAT DUCHY TO BOOK QUARTER FINAL DATE

Devon are through to the last eight of the MCCA Trophy after beating cross-Tamar derby rivals Cornwall by 41 runs at Bovey Tracey Cricket Club yesterday.

 

Devon made 271 for 8, opener James Burke top scoring with 78 while Rob Woodman (37), Neil Bettis (29) and Bob Dawson (42) also contributed to the home side's winning score.

CORNWALL SET ONE-DAY CRICKET RECORD

Cornwall had a record-breaking MCCA Trophy win over Buckinghamshire at Truro CC yesterday after racing to their highest ever one-day score.

 

Callington's Matt Robins (103) and Dan Davis (87) top scored for Cornwall who made 346-7 in their 50 overs.
