Pack had taken six wickets in his previous four Championship matches since his debut in 2016, but he comfortably doubled that tally.
Pack’s wickets included opener Will Wade and Wiltshire captain Ed Young who both made half centuries which helped them recover from being four for three to 194 for nine declared.
There were handy contributions down the order from Jake Goodwin (34) and Tahir Afridi (22 not out) before Young’s declaration.
Dorset made six without loss in five overs at the end of a rain-interrupted day.
Devon pace bowler Kaz Szymanski took five wickets on his debut against his former county Wales NC at Sandford.
Szymanski played for Wales while he was on Glamorgan’s staff and had hoped to play for them again following his release by the first-class county two years ago.
Torquay-born Szymanski, who is playing club cricket for Swansea, joined Devon during the week and made an instant impression by taking five for 26 to help dismiss Wales for 229.
Szymanski broke a third wicket partnership of 93 Oskar Kolk and Connor Brown and Wales slipped from 107 for two to 107 for five.
Brown, another former Glamorgan staff man, continued his productive season with 60 from 105 balls and Cameron Herring, the former Gloucestershire wicketkeeper, contributed valuable middle order runs between spells from Szymanski.
Openers James Horler and Elliot Hamilton responded with 56 for Devon’s first wicket but both departed before the close along with acting captain Matt Thompson who was bowled by Kieran Bull, the former Glamorgan off-spinner who is making his first appearance for Wales since 2013.
Andrew top scored with 73 and shared a seventh wicket partnership of 102 with George Tait (50) which took Oxfordshire to 329 for nine.
Cheshire lost opener Tim Hughes cheaply, bowled by Robbie Shurmer, before the close.
Herefordshire opener Ben Chapman-Lilley made his maiden National Counties century, 125, which dominated the first day against Shropshire at Shifnal in Western Division Two.
The Loughborough MCCU opener shared a fifth wicket stand of 134 with Cameron Smith (68) which laid the foundations for Herefordshire’s 347 for nine.
Former Glamorgan, Derbyshire and Warwickshire all-rounder Graham Wagg and his new ball partner Sam Ellis took three wickets apiece.
Herefordshire seamer James Rudge then accounted for openers Ryan Lockley and Ben Lees as Shropshire reached 40 for two.
