Oxfordshire are closing in on their first National Counties Championship title since 1989 after dominating the third day of the four-day final against Suffolk at Tring. Solid batting down the order extended Oxfordshire’s lead to 346 despite the efforts of Suffolk captain, slow left-armer Jack Beaumont, who took five for 59.

Euan Woods kept Berkshire in the hunt for a fifth straight National Counties Championship with a brilliant all-round performance in their Western Division One match against Cheshire at the Falkland club in Newbury.After Cheshire slow left-armer David Wainwright had returned his Championship-best figures of six for 38 to help dismiss Berkshire for 190 in their first innings, Woods then triggered a collapse which saw Cheshire lose their last seven wickets for 15 runs.
