Exeter's Commonwealth champion Liam Tancock narrowly missed out on the 100m Backstroke medals on day three of the 2011 FINA World Swimming Championships in Shanghai.
The British Gas ITC Loughborough swimmer, who will begin the defence of his world 50m Backstroke title on Saturday, clocked a season’s best 53.25 from lane one to finish just 0.26 off the podium positions in China.

Cornwall’s cricketers scored a fantastic four wicket-win over Shropshire in their Minor Counties Championship Western Division game at St Austell CC yesterday.
Needing 269 to win, Tom Sharp's side made 271-6 with seventy five minutes to spare.

Cornwall were 272-4 at lunch on the second day of Minor Counties Championship game against Shropshire at St Austell CC.
Skipper Tom Sharp is 31 not out and Grampound Road's Chris Hunkin 16 not out after Callington's Matt Robins made a superb century (118) and debutant Thomas Rowe scored 77.

The Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League top three - Truro, Paul and Callington - all won yesterday to extend their advantage.
Truro triumphed in quick time at home to Troon, who were bowled out for 81 with Alex Taylor taking five for 27. Truro replied with 84 for 2.
