University of Exeter are set to face the sternest test of their Men’s Premier Division credentials since returning to England Hockey League’s top flight.

Gloucestershire player of the year Will Gidman has committed to the Bristol based club until 2014 after penning a new deal.
The 27-year-old all-rounder capped a successful first season with Gloucestershire as player of the year after scoring 1,000 runs and taking 50 wickets in the LV= County Championship last summer.

Gloucester snooker ace Rob Milkins scored the best win of his 11-year professional career today, beating world champion John Higgins 5-3 to reach the 2012 Haikou World Open semi finals in China.
He will now face fellow West Country man, Stephen Lee of Trowbridge, who beat Graeme Dott 5-1.

Gloucester snooker ace Rob Milkins will meet reigning world champion John Higgins in tomorrow’s Haikou World Open in China.
Milkins – who is 36 next Tuesday – overcame wild card Jin Long 5-2 and now faces Higgins, who beat Jamie Cope 5-0.

Danny Coombes scored the Somerset Premier Cup extra time winner as Western League Premier Division Brislington edged past plucky First Division visitors Portishead Town 2-1.
