Gloucestershire county champion Shelby Smart continued early season form by sharing the 2012 English Women’s Close Amateur Championship first day lead at Royal Birkdale.
Smart (Knowle) scored three over 78 at Royal Birkdale along with Melissa Nicol (Moor Hall) and Helen Searle (Huddersfield).

Cornwall swept back to the 2012 Channel League summit following an impressive 9 ½ - 5 ½ home win over Somerset at Bude & North Cornwall.
Steve Rickard’s Duchy side edged 3-2 up in the morning singles and then forged further ahead in the afternoon singles, led by Welsh international ace Rhys Enoch at one.

Cornish Pirates host the RFU Championship final first leg against London Welsh at the Mennaye Field, Penzance on Wednesday May 23 (1945).
The return is fixtured for May 30 at Oxford United's Kassam Stadium (1945) with both legs screened live on Sky Sports.

Cornwall’s cricketers are through to the Minor Counties Knock Out Cup quarter finals following yesterday's thrilling three-wicket win over Hertfordshire at North Mymms.
The quarter final will be played at Truro Cricket Club on Sunday June 17 but Cornwall will not know their opponents until the conclusion of MCCA Trophy group games next weekend.

Bristol Rugby head coach Liam Middleton makes four changes to his starting XV ahead of tomorrow’s RFU Championship play-off semi-final second leg against leaders Cornish Pirates (Memorial Stadium 1245).
