Devon’s Alex Lane is the new European Under 17 badminton singles champion.
Lane, from Exmouth, claimed the Euro junior title following a 21-19 21-9 final win over Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke yesterday.

Torquay United signed Colchester United central defender Tom Aldred on loan yesterday but Mark Ellis and Chris Robertson are set to start as the centre back pairing at Port Vale tonight (1945).
Bolton-born Aldred, 21, will act as centre back-up as Brian Saah (groin) is could be ruled out for between 4-6 weeks by injury sustained in the 3-1 Devon derby win over Plymouth Argyle at Plainmoor.
