The pace was hot but so too the weather for today's Plymouth Half Marathon, won by Burundian-born Birchfield Harrier Jean Ndayisenga in a scorching 1:05:34.
Second senior male over the Plymouth Hoe finishing line was Kenya's Simon Tonui in 01:07:09. Tonui won this year's Bath half.
Colchester Harriers' Sarah Stradling was the first senior lady home in 1:20:40.
It was captivating to watch a packed field of nearly 4,000 - including a rather out-of-water penguin - on the run in the sun around the seaport.
southwestsportsnews opted out of this year's race but lent our support to Trotters, Harriers, Roadrunners, friends, friends of friends, those in fancy dress, those not, the team from 29 Commando and anyone who we could cheer on . . .
Our respect goes to all those who ran, walked and took part and, ofcourse, the marshalls and organisers who make it all happen. Great event!
