Taunton Races hopes to see out the year in style today when the Orchard Portman course hosts the biggest card of the season.
The Season’s Greetings From Totepool Novices’ Hurdle Race, a class 1 race for fillies and mares only, over two miles and a furlong, tops the card at 2.40 and is set to attract a strong entry.
This is followed by the class 3 Steve Logan Memorial (County Contractors) Handicap Steeple Chase over half a furlong short of three miles at 3.10.
Taunton Races management would like to thank County Contractors – based in Weston-super-Mare - for their continued support and a 10th year of sponsoring the race.
The seven-race card is set to get underway at 12.40. Going is soft, heavy in places as of 0830 this morning.
With gates opening at 1030 and an anticipated bumper attendance expected, advice from course officials is to arrive early to avoid missing any of the race action.
• A courtesy Taunton Races bus service departs from Taunton Railway Station an hour before the first race, picking up at the bus station at Castle Green near the town centre soon after.
The bus is due to depart from the course 30 minutes after the final race.
