It’s the first day of the new rugby union league season and I wish South West Sports News could be at scores of matches this afternoon.

Obviously we can’t . . . so the SWSN way of staying in touch with the region’s sporting teams is simple: we tweet to one another.

Last season we had a ball, literally, getting in touch with egg chasing tweeters across the region using hashtags like #engage #passiton #swrugby – which works equally well for South West England and South Wales – and #twitterpack.

This season we hope to turn into a powerhouse pack on twitter, raising the profile of regional rugby to another level – with your support, as props.

To get the ball rolling today we will list some of the tweeters that we like to track.

Most important of all – if you can – get out and support your local rugby team!

There is nothing like live sport, whether you are playing, coaching, supporting or simply tweeting from a match.
