Tonight’s Bristol Combination Cup final between newly-promoted Avonmouth Old Boys and Thornbury at Bristol Rugby is off due to a waterlogged Memorial Ground pitch.
However tonight’s Somerset Vase final between Gordano and Old Bristolians is still on at Weston-super-Mare RFC (Drove Road 1930) after the Recreation Ground passed an early morning pitch inspection.
Both Weston secretary Tony Russell and Gordano fixtures secretary John Critchley confirmed the final is set to go ahead - as long as there is not heavy rain between now and kick off.
No new date has been set for the Somerset Combination Cup final.
• Bristol Combination U16s are set to take on unbeaten Weston Hornets tomorrow at Broad Plain RFC (1900) weather-permitting.
• Bridgwater & Albion hosts Saturday’s Bill Beaumont Cup Division Two South county championship opener between Somerset and Devon (1500).
• Redruth RFC hosts Cornwall’s Bill Beaumont Cup Division One South opener against Gloucestershire on Saturday (Recreation Ground 1500).
Cornwall – skippered by Cornish All Blacks second row forward Ben Hilton – warmed up for the championship with a 36-15 Tamar Cup win over Devon at Launceston last week.
• A gentle reminder that the RFU Championship play-off semi-final first leg between Cornish Pirates and Bristol at the Mennaye on Bank Holiday Monday kicks off at 1205.
