The big chill is already starting to bite into this weekend’s fixtures with Cornish Pirates’ rescheduled RFU Championship clash at Rotherham Titans on Saturday already put on ice.
Titans officials are now planning for an 1130 pitch inspection at Clifton Lane on Saturday morning to see if the match can be played on Sunday at 1400.
At the moment the frozen Clifton Lane pitch remains “rock solid” and the Met Office forecast is for tomorrow night’s temperature to drop to minus 5C in Rotherham.
Monday has also been mooted as a possible match day.

• Irish prop John Andress is to leave Exeter Chiefs at the end of the season.
Andress - in his second spell at Exeter - is set to team up with Chiefs' Premiership rivals Worcester Warriors.
• The three-day RFU Under 16 Divisional Festival scheduled to be played at Broadstreet RFC near Coventry from tomorrow has been cancelled because of adverse weather conditions.
Players who had been selected to represent their division at the festival are set to be invited to attend the Under 16 training camp at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire from February 16-18.
