EXETER STUDENTS FACE PREMIER EXAMS

egland hockey league logoUniversity of Exeter are set to face the sternest test of their Men’s Premier Division credentials since returning to England Hockey League’s top flight.

After EHL round 13, the South West’s top men's hockey team remain five points from safety with five matches remaining.

They play two of those games this weekend – home and away, against the top two sides in the country.

Today the students – fortified by the inclusion of South African international ace Ian Haley – visit leaders East Grinstead, fresh from winning 6-0 at second from bottom Bowdon.

Tomorrow it does not get much easier for the greens as second placed Cannock – level on points with EG – visit the University Sports Park (12.30).

Bottom club Exeter will be seeking a turnaround in fortunes following a 3-1 defeat at seventh placed Hampstead & Westminster, where Haley’s 28th minute goal from open play made it 2-1 at half time.

Men’s Conference West leaders Team Bath Buccaneers host Fareham tomorrow (UBSTV 1430).

Tomorrow’s other EHL MCW games Cheltenham v University of Birmingham (Balcarras 1230), Havant v Guildford (1400), Lichfield v Cardiff & UWIC (1230), Whitchurch v Bournville (Welsh Institute of Sport 1300).
