SIDMOUTH HOCKEY CROWD-PLEASER

Charlie Please swept in a late winner as Sidmouth upset the form book to record a 3-2 floodlit South One win over second placed Ashmoor in the Davis Wood Hockey League last night.

The win hoists Sidmouth to seventh above Bridgwater, who visit Minehead in a Somerset derby on Saturday (West Somerset Leisure Centre 1330).

In last night’s Devon derby at the Colin Tooze Sport Centre, Ottery St Mary, Ashmoor skipper Dan Green opened the scoring.

Dan Devine levelled before Sid Andrew put Sidmouth 2-1 ahead. Tom Tressider made it 2-2 before Please swooped for the 67th minute winner.

Graham Woolcock and Martyn Harvey umpired.
