Saltash United are still searching for their first Western League point of the season following their fifth successive defeat, this time at Ilfracombe’s Marlborough Park.

First half goals from Tyler Evans-Loude (9 minutes) and Rory Paine (42) gave the home side a nice cushion by the break and even though substitute Henry Bunning pulled a goal back a minute after coming on (76) the Ashes were unable to rescue anything from the game.

Southampton striker Che Adams scored a stoppage time winner as Saints won in the sun at Plymouth.

Everton target Adams chested the ball down and volleyed in from close range after Argyle keeper Conor Hazard had palmed out Adam Armstrong’s goal-bound header from a 94th minute corner.

EFL CUP Plymouth Argyle FC 2 Leyton Orient 0

New Zealand international striker Ben Waine bagged two first half goals as Championship newcomers Plymouth Argyle eased into the EFL Cup second round 2-0 against League One Leyton Orient at Home Park.

Argyle’s opener came seconds after Orient striker Joe Pigott fired just wide on 25 minutes.
