IVYBRIDGE Town scored a big a 4-0 home win over cross-Tamar local rivals Torpoint Athletic in the FA Cup at Erme Valley on Saturday (Aug 8).

The Ivys scored two goals in each half to book their place in the preliminary Round and will now travel to Tiverton Town on Saturday August 22.

western league newlogoIVYBRIDGE Town had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at home to local rivals Saltash United in an entertaining Jewson Western League match at Erme Valley on Tuesday evening (Aug 4).

Despite making a bright start, Ivybridge found themselves trailing after only 13 minutes when Joe Preece opened the scoring for Saltash with a close-range header.

An opening day Western Premier trip to Bristol club Portishead was expected to be a testing start to the new season for Ivybridge Town on Saturday (July 25) and so it proved.

FA ground grading requirements meant that Portishead were relegated from the Southern League Division One South despite finishing as runners-up last season.

Malachi Boateng scored a 90th minute leveller as seventh placed Plymouth Argyle drew 2-2 with relegation haunted Exeter in the League One Devon derby at windswept Home Park.

Boateng profited in a goalmouth scramble as City keeper Jack Bycroft kicked the ball at him as City failed to clear a Xavier Amaechi cross, helped on by Alex Mitchell.

LES PHILLIPS CUP Bradford Town 5 Ivybridge 1

Despite taking an early lead Ivybridge Town were knocked out of the Western League Les Phillips Cup after suffering a 5-1 semi-final defeat away to Bradford Town yesterday.

Ivybridge started brightly following their 118-mile trip to Wiltshire and went ahead after only nine minutes with a goal from Joe Cook.
