Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’s winning replay double fired Bristol City through to a lucrative home FA Cup fourth tie against West Ham United at Ashton Gate on Sunday January 25 (1400).
The 24-year-old target man headed City’s 36th minute opener following a corner, and relentless pressure against their League 1 rivals.
Emmanuel-Thomas swept home his second after a brilliant piece of solo play in the 79th minute cutting across from the right, beating two defenders and keeper Marko Marosi before patiently picking his spot and scoring with a measured left-foot finish on the run.
City number one Frank Fielding made three crucial saves as Doncaster strove for a leveller but there was no way back for Rovers after red hot Emmanuel-Thomas struck his second of a freezing night. It was JET's third goal in two games and sixth of the season.
