Tom Abell’s team will be aiming to go one better than last season, when the cider men finished runners-up to Surrey.
Somerset have yet to win the Championship despite finishing second on five occasions.
It’s all change on the domestic front as this will be the last summer of eight teams in Division One.
With one down and three up at the end of this season, all eyes will be on whether Glamorgan and Gloucestershire can gain promotion to next season’s top 10.
Gloucestershire’s last Division One spell was in 2005 while the only way is up for Glamorgan, who finished with the wooden spoon last year.
Both counties complete their warm-up for the new Division Two season – which starts next week - with free-to-see home University games.
Glamorgan host Cardiff MCCU at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff while Gloucestershire welcome Oxford MCCU to the County Ground, Bristol.
Free admission to both three-day matches.
With cricket’s World Cup and the Ashes on home strips this summer, cricket fans are in for a year to remember.
Can our three regional counties add to the excitement?
Only time will tell...
Enjoy cricket fans!
