The divisional phase of the Durant Cricket National Counties Championship is set for an exciting finale with all eight of this weekend’s matches having a bearing on at least one of the five issues still to be decided across the four divisions.

Only Western Division One – won by Berkshire last weekend – has been decided with the Eastern Division One title, two relegation places and the two Division Two titles all up for grabs in the final round of three-day matches which start tomorrow.

Wayne Rooney was pleased with his first win as Plymouth Argyle head coach following a 3-0 EFL Cup first round victory over Cheltenham Town.

Rooney said: “I thought we were good. First half we had to be more patient with the ball.”

Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle eased past League Two Cheltenham and through to the EFL Cup second round thanks to second half goals from strikers Ben Waine, Ryan Hardie and Mustapha Bundu.

New Zealand international striker Waine was first to react, with a tap-in, after Robins keeper Joe Day palmed Adam Randell’s thumping 20-yard free kick on to the underside of the crossbar on 62 minutes.
