MATCH OFF? Let us know as soon as possible...

With the weather we have experienced it could be the first big washout weekend of winter sports.

Cricket suffered in summertime when rain stopped play more frequently than in previous seasons – now the boot is on another sporting foot and teams playing winter sports are bracing themselves for more rain and gales.

I rely on YOU or your club officials to be pro-active in letting me know if YOUR fixture is off.

My plan – hangover aside – is to publish a front page round-up story of postponements in the morning as early as possible so supporters can plan their Saturday and not make unwanted journeys to watch matches that have been called off.

Check today’s fixtures pages for some games already off: tonight – football at Plymouth Parkway – and tomorrow, rugby at Lydney and Thornbury.

If your game is unaffected by the weather and going ahead tomorrow, there is no need to contact me. Game on!

However if you want your football or rugby postponement to appear on tomorrow morning’s SWSN front page then email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as soon as a decision is made... or include @swsportsnews in your tweet.

I plan on manning the desk from dawn until about 10 (or a little later if necessary) to update the front page but then have a match to cover, weather-permitting.

• SWSN suggests you keep up to date with your club's official websites, twitter and facebook feeds for the latest match forecasts as well as local journalists on twitter and radio.

You must get tired of reading me write/tweet this but it's all about #teamwork and all of you playing a pro-active part...
