The popular former Bath and London Irish prop has made 19 Bears appearances impressing at both tighthead and loosehead.

London-born Lahiff, 31, has gained cult hero status among Bears supporters for his irreverent interview style and physical scrummaging displays.

Lahiff says: "The culture at Bristol is exceptional. Guys are given the freedom to express themselves, on and off the field, and it has resulted in a really close group of players and staff.

"I’m personally enjoying my rugby and there’s a sense that we are on the brink of something very special if we continue to work hard and stay grounded."

Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam says: "We are really pleased that Max will continue to grow his game with the Bears.

"His ability to excel on both sides of the scrum is vital for us but what impresses us most with Max is his willingness to improve all areas of his game to contribute fully to the Bears game plan.

"Max is a great character and fantastic for the environment, he adds real value to our culture, and we all enjoy him being with us."
