Penzance win 2017 Cornwall Cricket Premier Cup

Cornwall Cricket choughPenzance CC won the first major Cornwall Cricket League silverware of summer by winning a low-scoring Premier 40/40 Cup final against Truro CC by 63 runs at Hayle CC.

Penzance made 111 all out with player of the match Christian Purchase holding the innings together with a patient 52.

After losing two wickets in the first over, Truro struggled to 48 all out as in-form Nathan Pobega and Brad Wadlan each took four wickets.

Roche CC won the Cornwall & Devon Village Cup group again after winning by seven wickets at Abbotskerswell CC.

Roche will now host Wiltshire champions Burbage and Easton Royal CC in round five on Sunday June 25.

In the Cornwall Women’s Cricket League Penzance won at Falmouth by four runs, Truro beat Grampound Road by 37 runs and Redruth won at Launceston by 20 runs.

Tonight there are two rescheduled Cornwall Cricket League Vinter Cup quarter finals.

Falmouth play Troon and Redruth host Truro at 1800 weather permitting.

Only two games started in the top two Cornwall Cricket League divisions on Saturday due to incessant rain.

In the Premier League Truro made 107-2 at Falmouth and in County 1 St Minver were 105-8 at Wadebridge before both games were washed off.
