It’s that incredibly exciting time for sports in the region when hockey, rugby union and football seasons are coming to an end – and the cricket, athletics, golf and tennis seasons start.
Promotion, play-off and relegation issues will be decided today at rugby union grounds across the South West.
Some have already been confirmed with champions popping up left, right and centre.
For others – those chasing play-off spots or in cup finals – the oval ball season will be extended.
It’s the same story for non-League football, although due to the beast from the East and other unnamed winter and spring storms there are many games still to be squeezed in this month and next.
As for hockey? Exeter University’s men’s 1s will start their bid to regain a Premier Division place tomorrow when they play University of Nottingham in Nottingham, the first of their three round robin play-off games over the next two weekends.
It’s also Devon Hockey finals day today with six finals at Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club’s two purpose-built pitches from 1030-1500.
First-class county cricket is up and running with a cracking derby at Bristol between Gloucestershire and Glamorgan, while Somerset are at home to Worcestershire this weekend. Club cricket has also started - where squares have been prepared...
All-in-all with dry weather forecast for most of us today it’s a perfect day to get out and play or support whichever sport you enjoy the most…
