ENGLAND RUGBY squad begin Barbarians preparations

The England men’s squad has been named for next Sunday’s match against Barbarians at Twickenham (1500ko).
 
The 36-player squad met at the England Rugby Performance Centre at Pennyhill Park, Bagshot yesterday to prepare for the game.

The Barbarians’ match also forms a key part of Eddie Jones’ side’s preparation for their upcoming tour of Australia.  England will play three Tests against the Wallabies in Perth (July 2), Brisbane ( July 9) and Sydney (July 16).
 
Players from Leicester Tigers and Saracens, who are involved in the Gallagher Premiership Final on Saturday are not available for selection.

George Furbank, Louis Lynagh, Sam Simmonds, Kyle Sinckler, Henry Slade, Manu Tuilagi and Anthony Watson are ruled out by injury.
 
Danny Care returns to the fold for the first time since November 2018.  Will Collier also returns to the squad and there is a first call-up for Jack Walker.
 
Luke Cowan-Dickie (knee injury) will be in camp continuing rehab work.
 
Jones said: “This is a strong, diverse squad.  There are a lot of exciting, young players and some experienced players who have another opportunity to shine.
 
“Everyone will be given the chance to make their case for being part of the Australia tour squad while we prepare for the Barbarians.

“The Barbarians game at Twickenham is always a great rugby occasion and we know the fans always have a great day out, watching a really entertaining game. 
 
“We’re looking forward to working hard on the training pitch this week so we’re ready for a fantastic match on Sunday.”
