Mens hockey league logoPromoted Exeter University's return to the Men's Hockey League Premier Division ended in a 4-1 opening day defeat by East Grinstead at the University Sports Park.
James Ferguson scored Exeter's sole goal in the 46th minute to reduce the arrears to 2-1 before David Condon made it 3-1 four minutes later.

Exeter University begin their Men's Hockey League Premier promotion season at home to East Grinstead at the University Sports Park today (1230).
Clifton Robinsons Ladies opened their Women's Hockey League Premier campaign with a 1-0 victory at Canterbury thnaks to a 32nd minute penalty corner winner from Devon's former Exeter University ace Claire Thomas.

Men's Hockey League logoExeter University face two must-win England Hockey play-off games next weekend if they want to win promotion back to the Men’s Premier Division.

The Conference West champions were beaten 2-1 by Notttingham University in their play-off opener in Nottingham yesterday despite taking a 12th minute lead through Sam Hooper following a penalty corner.

England Hockey shieldExeter University have won the national Men's Hockey League Conference West title following a last gasp 1-0 win at Cheltenham yesterday.
 
James Thomas scored the all-important 69th minute goal which clinched the championship for Exeter, who now represent the region in the end of season Premier Division promotion play-offs.
