TOP OF TABLE HOCKEY CLASH PUT ON ICE

england hockey board logoThe overnight arrival of frost caused a number of postponements in the men and women’s regional league hockey programmes at the weekend.

The top of the table Davis Wood Hockey League Premier One clash between leaders University of Exeter A and Firebrands fixtured to take place in Bristol was postponed and will now be rescheduled.

Bristol University closed the gap on the top two, winning 2-1 at Isca, while fourth placed Robinsons beat visiting TeamBath Buccaners A 5-0.

South African Kyle Pinnock scored twice as Plymouth Marjon moved up to fifth with a 3-0 win at ECV Hornets.

University of Exeter B won 7-3 at Devizes while Taunton Vale overcame Cardiff University 6-2 to overtake their hosts in the top flight table.

In West Club’s Women’s Hockey League Premier One there were big wins for top the top two.

Table topping Taunton Vale beat visiting Bristol University 5-0 to maintain a five-point lead over second placed Bournemouth, 4-1 home winners over Clifton seconds.

Cheltenham moved up to third following a 2-0 win at Exe seconds as Plymouth Marjon – yet to lose at home – suffered another away defeat, 2-1 at Yate.

Lansdown drew 0-0 at home to Isca seconds.
